Season two of the Emmy®-winning Max Original series Conan O’Brien Must Go debuts THURSDAY, MAY 8 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET on Max. The three-episode season will debut new episodes weekly on Thursdays, concluding with the season finale on May 22. In this riotously funny travel series, Conan O’Brien experiences local cultures and connects with fans he previously met on his podcast, all the while serving up informative travelogues, big laughs, and a beautiful and heartfelt connection to the people and places visited by the show.
O’Brien has carved out quite an interesting post-talk show career. After establishing himself as one of the great late-night hosts, the comedian shifted course to start a successful podcast where the real Conan O’Brien could exist as his serious/silly self.
A longtime student of History, O’Brien (along with his pals and co-hosts Sona Movsesian and Matt Gourley) fills his podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, with witty banter and historical references that O’Brien backs up with his savage intellect. The man is smart, but also loves to be silly. O’Brien’s goofy banter with Sona (his longtime assistant) and Matt give a natural feel to the unscripted and unrehearsed show. When it is time for the guest, O’Brien makes each one feel comfortable by just having real conversations. While some may be there as part of a promotional tour, the talks are quite natural. O’Brien has made friends with many in the entertainment business and those he doesn’t know on a personal level are made to feel at ease in the comfortable atmosphere Conan, Sona, and Matt have created.
On April 18, 2024 the streaming service Max premiered Conan O’Brien Must Go, a fun and informative travel show where O’Brien traveled the globe, visiting gorgeous locations and occasionally meeting various fans in person whom he had previously featured via video calls in his podcast series. In the first season, O’Brien traveled to Norway, Thailand, Argentina, and his family’s homeland of Ireland. The show received widespread critical acclaim and earned an Emmy® for Outstanding Writing for a Non-Fiction Program.
The intoxicating series is filled with O’Brien’s trademark humor that is both self-deprecating and unabashedly goofy. The charming wit and personality that makes Conan such an endearing personality is used to its fullest on Conan O’Brien Must Go. O’Brien has an infectious zest for life and knowledge and such a strong love for people that the show is like spending a vacation with one of your best friends. As he did on his long-running talk show, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Conan makes anyone he meets feel at ease and dives into the many different cultures of the lands he visits.
In season two, the series visits New Zealand, Austria, and Spain. Conan O’Brien explores more of the world through his unique mix of eager inquisitiveness, youthful exuberance, and side-splitting humor, while a couple of well-known celebrity guests add to the spontaneous fun.
The series has already been renewed for a third season, ahead of its season two debut. Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Late Night & Specials states, “Working with Conan and his team on Conan O’Brien Must Go is the trip of a lifetime. They’re annoyingly brilliant and no one can make locals feel as deeply uncomfortable in their own country as Conan can… this season in lederhosen!”
Conan O’Brien Must Go begins streaming May 8, 2025 on Max at 6:00 p.m. Pacific/9:00 p.m. Eastern
Produced by Conaco; Executive Producers: Conan O’Brien and Jeff Ross.
