Day 8 of the 2025 Tribeca Festival was once again packed with star power and celebrations of film and media. There was also a bit of “The Daisy Age”. (If ya know, ya know.)
The New York premiere of the wonderful new documentary, Nobu , took place at The OKX Theater at BMCC, followed by a conversation between celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, director Matt Tyrnauer, and Tribeca Co-Founder Robert De Niro.

Later in the evening, the world premiere of the highly-anticipated documentary Metallica Saved My Life welcomed Metallica fans and band members Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, and Kirk Hammet to recognize the powerful impact that the iconic heavy metal band has had over the years. Special guest Ethan Hawke came to support, and CEO and Co-Founder Jane Rosenthal was there to introduce both films.
The much-awaited live-action reimagining of How to Train Your Dragon had its New York premiere at the SVA Theatre, with stars Gerard Butler, Mason Thames, Nico Parker, and director, writer, and producer Dean DeBlois in attendance.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer then dropped in for the world premiere of documentary Room to Move, which they both executive produced, and Allison Williams appeared as the special guest for a live taping of the Death, Sex & Money podcast with host Anna Sale.
Music documentary The Sixth Borough, which explores Long Island’s impact on the evolution of hip hop, closed out the night with its world premiere at The Indeed Theater at Spring Studios, followed by a special performance by De La Soul and Rakim.
